What to Ask Your Doctor or Healthcare Provider

  • Do you take Medicare?
  • Are you currently accepting new Medicare patients? If so, on what plans?
  • Do you take any Medicare Advantage plans? If so, which ones?
  • In your experience, which type of coverage is better for patient care?
  • Have you or your practice had billing, prior authorization, or care denial issues with Medicare Advantage or Traditional Medicare?
  • Based on my health needs, which Medicare plan would you recommend?
  • Will I need referrals for any of the plans I am considering?

If you travel outside your Medicare Advantage plan’s network, non-emergency or non-urgent care may not be covered and could be denied for payment.

You can search for doctors who accept Medicare in your area by:

  • Visiting the Medicare website
  • Calling Medicare’s phone number (1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227))
